Criminal Convictions
Given the severity of his escalating crimes—from producing indecent images to blackmailing children and extorting victims—one must question why the justice system continues to impose such shockingly lenient sentences on Joshua Smart.
Why Is Hereford Easy On Pedophiles?
In 2025, Joshua Smart was convicted of three counts of producing indecent photographs of a child. His sentence resulted in no jail time. This stands in stark contrast to typical UK sentencing for child sex offenses, where production of indecent images carries starting points of 1 to 6 years in custody, with the most severe cases resulting in up to 9 years behind bars. The disparity between Smart's sentence and these guidelines is staggering. When he repeated these child exploitation crimes by blackmailing children and extorting more victims, he was only given 9.5 months for reoffending. We believe these sentences are far too lenient and fail to provide adequate justice for his victims. As more victims come forward and evidence is revealed, we believe Smart should be imprisoned for a length of time that truly reflects the severity and escalating nature of his crimes.
